The harbor was humid and hot in this mysterious land, nothing like the frosty cold ports of home. Yellow smoke danced to the beat of the drum joined by hypnotic women. The crowd spiraled inward, dancing to far away bells and the murmur beneath the ground. 

You awoke sweat clad in linen sheets, the naked woman passed a long pipe. The cherry sparked red like a dragons eye. Head leaned back against a soft pillow, body free falling from soothed skies. A thud as your body hit the ground on a pathway built by giants. 

Chanting, ritual drumming and spoken word weave in and out of this album that pays tribute to the old ways.

I have always made dark sounds, from the sounds created for "Windowpane", to the Timestretched digiridoos of "Further back and faster" for Coil, From the Chopped up Speech of Nine Inch Nails "Gave up", to the Dark Intro of " "Closer" by Nin ( As used on the Film Seven). From the Twisted re sampled sounds of The Black light district Album, to the Soft but haunting sin waves on "baby food" . From the Twisted metal sounds on the coil remix of "Rush" - Depeche Mode to the Strings on a "Cold cell" Dark sounds seem to be something I just happen to make. But with so many audio re makers NOW around ( like Cyclobe etc,etc) I decided to to take yet another path and combine my Audio sounds with anything I fancied, and thus hope to create something Unique, out of it's time, maybe having no time. I was determined to make each song ring with real feeling, also I wanted to break free of the chains us Sampler users have inflicted on ourselves . At first at the beginning of sampling we sampled silly noises and made tunes, then we twisted noises and made tunes, now I feel we can twist soundtracks and make anything we want. This resulted in a project which has taken the best Part of two years to complete, after all how to marry the Absurd with the dark Anybody who heard my vocal samples in "Exploding Frogs" Knows I have a sense of the absurd, so with this in mind the project began . On this project You'll hear anything from Steven Hawkin waxing lyrically over getting wood, to george Bush giving 4th grade girls to the taliban.But aside from the absurd there is an other element here. The death of Jhon Balance has made the songs he sung ,all the more poignant. One song had been pulled from the ether ( a lost vocal sung through an obliteration box, years ago , thanks to the power of the modern processors, was un processed and delivered clean to be used in a new song " Make room for the Mushrooms" The other song " Fj Nettlefold" Is One of Jhons' last ever recordings, In fact I had been on at him for Months to sing it, no sooner was it done, then it seemed like he was gone. Also on here is a haunting lullaby on incest , sung by Joanna de Seyne , " No one needs to Notice" a beautiful song sung about an absurd subject So the album is not only Celebration of the absurd, but contains emotions of all Human experience .

In 2005 a small Russian label, Insofar Vapour Bulk, proposed to Massimo Magrini to work on a recording made by Hiroshi Hasegawa (Astro). It was a "drone-like" sound of a few minutes, Despite the difficult nature of the assignment, Massimo loved the very static and cryptic structure of the original. So, starting from this basic recording (without using additional sounds) he developed a 45 minutes long suite: it was like using a magic audio lens which revealed a myriad of hidden details in a microscopic world. The original Astro sound can still be heard at the beginning and at the end of the suite. The re-edition comes in beautiful cardboard case with silver-embossed printing. LOKI-PAS 32

Originally released in 2000 this long sold out collaboration work is now available again and brings back some fine piece of well crafted deep sounding electronica from Italy. The BAD SECTOR tracks of Massimo Magrini building up again a sonic cathedral of sub-harmonic drones and rhythms while Paolo Bandera of SSHE RETINA STIMULANTS/SIGILLUM S dissects precisely the frequency oscillation and adds an intense and contemplative manifest of digital noise to the second part of this split-work. This is an outstanding example in sound research by two of the most important masterminds of the Italian electronic music scene.

The CD is presented in a beautiful cardboard package with bronze-foil print.

In 2005 Massimo Magrini was invited to provide a soundtrack for the M3M art exhibition in Pisa/Italy. The exhibition was based around images of the seaside and the rivers estuary of Pisana area with CMASA airplane factory built there in it's centre vis a vis of archaic marine cottages. This marvelous seaside scenery mixed with vintage industrial locations, together with some kind of nostalgia, created an unexpected but amazing mood. To sculpture a soundtrack of this scenery Massimo Magrini was asked to use acoustic and natural sounds too and so he added for this work treated piano and snippets of acoustic guitars together with water sounds and metal samples. This may sound unusual for a BAD SECTOR release but all those new elements are perfectly blent into the massive and ambient soundwaves for what previous releases are known for and making CMASA probably to the most emotional album of Massimo Magrini to date. In BAD SECTOR's 20 years of existence Massimo Magrini has developed a sound aesthetic of harmonious sonic drones that marked its beginning with the first album AMPOS in 1995. Many releases and a decade later the ground breaking work KOSMODROM was published and sold out within a few months. Dedicated to Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the Russian pioneer of astronautic theory, the key element in BAD SECTOR´s music (bringing together science and sound) was brought into the foreground with this release. Original Soviet sound devices like the Aelita synthesizer and the electro-optical ANS (which Coil also worked with) were mixed with heavily processed sources from space missions, adding an unearthly human dialogue to the electronics. The sounds on KOSMODROM are deep and droning, pulsating and constantly flowing with processed rhythmic sequences, supported by a bed of radio signal recordings. A timeless masterpiece of deep ambient electronica!

Spanish ritualistic industrial sorcerers BLACK EARTH return with "Gnarled Ritual of Self Annihilation" - a sophomore full-length of unreal cinematic sonic disembodiment, conceived with the aim of turning the listener into a sacrificial centrepiece to a surreal ritual nightmare. Following in the steps of their debut LP "A Cryptic Howl of Morbid Truth" and of their followup mini-album "Diagrams of a Hidden Order", on "Gnarled Ritual of Self Annihilation" Black Earth further refine and sharpen their horrific sonic blade, slicing through shadows and darkness with more skill and mastery than ever before to reveal a dimension beyond of incomprehensible ritual abandon. As they first weave and then slice and dissect their impenetrable veil, a sonic ritual of abject disfigurement begins to take shape before the listener, as the strokes and gashes of black metal, industrial, noise and ritual drone intersect erratically and hypnotically, painting an hallucinatory arabesque of absolute dread and deformity. As the album's wicked spires envelops them like a fog of snakes, the listener finds themselves immersed into an hallucinating aural delirium of complete disembodiment and self-implosion, in which they feel simultaneously out of body and helplessly trapped and crushed within themselves at the same time.

Italy’s CHAIGIDEL and NERATERRÆ have joined forces and created a deeply evocative ritualistic opus rich in various aural elements and sceneries. The title “Lamaŝtu” pays tribute to the Mesopotamian mythological malevolent goddess, the most terrible of all female demons, daughter of the sky god Anu and lover of Pazuzu.

CHAIGIDEL is Mattia Giovanni Accinni, devoted to the most evocative side of music; sonic offerings for Qliphotic rituals from the depths of occultism and the left-hand path. On his fourth release on Cyclic Law, Alessio Antoni’s NERATERRÆ joins compatriot CHAIGIDEL on this trance-like-state inducing aural experience, seeking for knowledge by unearthing the roots of all evil.


Black mantras, organic drones, tuvan throat singing, tibetan bells, doumbek, balaban, maaponim, shofar and ritual drums are the earthly tools chosen to cut through the soil of human beliefs and comprehension, and to reach for the purest and obscure states of being.
