If ‘Satyajit Eye’ (which is released at the same time on Staalplaat) only blinks at Indian culture, the album ‘Al Jar Zia Audio’ does this with both eyes open. It is known that Bryn Jones, the man behind Muslimgauze, looked further than the Palestinian conflict and used extensively the rhythms of India, Pakistan and other Eastern cultures. Like crossing borders in the bigger Islam regio, Jones takes whatever comes at hand and moulds into his own trademark sound – often imitated, never surpassed. The tribal bang of the drums, the sampled voices of the radio, combined with a strong sense of melody, makes the music of Muslimgauze stand out a mile from the rest. Whereas others fell into the traps of commercialism, Muslimgauze remained faithful to his own principals and methods. Even in digging the vaults of Muslimgauze, it’s hard to find material that is of a weaker nature, as ‘Al Jar Zia Audio’ will proof. From the uplifting dance rhythms of ‘We Have Shafika Habibi On Our Bus’, including the chirping of crickets, the bubble bass of ‘Arvinada Jewel Box’ and crackles of sun burned vinyl, but also some curioso piece such as the highly experimental ‘All I Have Is Sand’ or the ‘stop-start’ approach of Brotherhood Of Tikrit’. Bryn Jones was not just a master who refined the art of sampling, but also knew how to create a fine piece of music out of it, more often then not displaying a fine sense of melody. ‘Al Jar Zia Audio’ offers fifteen tracks in over an hour of exciting Muslimgauze music of a sheer varied nature. Less myserious, more open, this is the melting pot of many cultures, from sunnier parts of the world, served from a rainy UK city.  

New album by Sweden's long-standing project Moljebka Pvlse. The source material and foundation for this album are field-recordings by Mathias Josefson collected on a journey through the deserts of the American Southwest and translated into an acoustic travel journal through a spectral landscape, where the edges of memory and imagination are blurred. Joining Mathias on this album is John Björkman, who performs on instruments acquired on his travels to Nepal and whose performance was recorded at the legendary Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm, Sweden. These recordings were later transformed by Mathias Josefson at the Eleventh Planet studio where Moljebka Pvlse merge their take on experimental drone music with hints of electroacoustic sounds from the sixties.

Winter-Light welcomes Nam-Khar back for their third sonic venture on our label, this time collaborating with fellow German artists Vortex (Tesco Organisation, :Ikonen: Media, Cyclic Law).

The Nag Hammadi scriptures - also known as the Nag Hammadi library - are a collection of early Christian texts that are mainly attributable to the Gnosis and were never integrated in official versions of the bible. They were found by local farmers near the small Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi in December of 1945. Most of these writings were then not known at all or only available in fragments. They include the Gospel of Thomas in particular.

The Nag Hammadi scriptures probably came from a period between the 1st and 4th centuries. Most of these scriptures are written primarily from the perspective of Gnostic Christians. In his introduction to The Nag Hammadi Library in English, scholar James Robinson suggests that these codices may have belonged to a nearby Pachomian monastery and were buried after Saint Athanasius condemned the use of non-canonical books in his Festal Letter of 367 A.D. If there were no poultry farms, there would be no mass destruction of chickens due to the spread of bird flu. Human beings' cruelty to animals, animal abuse and species discrimination are all adding up to a disaster for mankind and the whole planet. The pandemic is an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between animals and humans. Veganism is the future for humanity" (Masami Akita, 2021).

The artwork is a reflection of the animal rights and anarcho-punk movements of the 80's. Proceeds from this release will benefit animal rights charities.

Use the same kinds of devotional voices found on much of Minaret Speaker, but here other voices are present too. Conversational or angry, male or female, English or French or Arabic, almost inaudible or forcing their way to the front of the music, these “Zilver Tracks” (the name based on a note Jones wrote on the tape) engage more directly with the world Jones was so fascinated with and tried to represent over and over again in his work as Muslimgauze.
