Rapoon returns once more to the Winter-Light label.... 

In celebration of his 25th Silver Anniversary, we have released a trilogy of new work from Rapoon entitled ‘The Mercury Rising Trilogy’. The Mercury Rising Trilogy comprises of three brand new studio albums, all with exclusive material. The albums will bring a new feel to Robin’s work, that of a more off world spacious feel, jazzy in parts with a ceremonial thread running throughout. Each album interlinked by this feel and theme, as the titles suggest, but with each one still having it’s own unique identity. 

The trilogy began in November 2017 with 'Sanctus Equinox', which was then followed by 'Offworld OP1 Equs'. The Mercury Rising Trilogy now draws to it’s conclusion with 'Sol Laude' thundering it’s way through the universe, leaving it’s impression trailing across the cosmos like a giant comet’s tail. Deep industrial, space ambience and majestic choral bursts are interspersed with retro sci-fi electronica, emotive piano elements and off-world jazz. 

Rapoon's signature sound and structures are still very much evident on this release, but yet again Robin brings a different feel to the listener that has beautifully evolved across this triptych of his...  more

New album by Sweden's long-standing project Moljebka Pvlse. The source material and foundation for this album are field-recordings by Mathias Josefson collected on a journey through the deserts of the American Southwest and translated into an acoustic travel journal through a spectral landscape, where the edges of memory and imagination are blurred. Joining Mathias on this album is John Björkman, who performs on instruments acquired on his travels to Nepal and whose performance was recorded at the legendary Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm, Sweden. These recordings were later transformed by Mathias Josefson at the Eleventh Planet studio where Moljebka Pvlse merge their take on experimental drone music with hints of electroacoustic sounds from the sixties.

'Airstrikes' is Robin Storey's brand new album on Zoharum since 'Blue Days' released back in 2015. Unlike the latter, 'Airstrikes' contains longer compositions that combine the different recurring themes from Rapoon repertoire from the past 25 years. These are both inspirations from oriental music and rhythmic structures that derive directly from dance music. The seven compositions on the album are subtle observations of the processes taking place in the modern world. Airstrikes announced on the news bulletin with the same detachment as announcing a rise in the price of petrol... A computer game… a dancing crosshairs above a target... 

The sound of a dulcimer playing an ancient song careens through the dusty, dry desert air... Life persists.... we are such stuff as dreams are made on…

raubbau proudly features one of the most respected artists in the ambient genre - for over two decades german duo troum have taken the clues from their dreams and translated them into a transcending sound of majestic beauty. their drone-based compositions are mostly on the calm and soothing side, but never lack a little edginess and experiment to spice things up.

the 'vorbei der tod' lp clocks in just over 40 minutes and emphasizes a sacral, ceremonial approach. troum follow their hands-on approach of using acoustic instruments and guitar sounds rather than electronics, and create a universe of sound from there: according to its thematic backdrop the a-side is dominated by what seems like the residue of organ sounds and religious chants, whereas the b-side is more serene, immersive and hallucinatory, before the final 'theme dream' provides a ceremonious finale. the lp format is definitely the perfect fit for this material.

one is simply baffled just how expressive and captivating music so quiet and roomy can be. put on repeat to discover more of those little details, and rest assured: death is over.

Five years have passed since Glacial Movements published the wonderful "Wandering Eye" album by the duo Aria Rostami and Daniel Blomquist, whose themes focused on a description of the best places to observe space from the Antarctic Plateau. A further step forward is represented by "Still", whose purpose is to describe how time can change its motion in case of cold weather.

" "Still" consists of a few recordings done within our first year of collaborating (2015-2016) - the opening track was our first studio recording, everything we had done prior to that was strictly live. Throughout this project, we've tried a lot of different approaches and made a special effort for each record and each live show to make it feel different from the last. In that first year, we primarily aimed to make songs that were built over long periods of time - usually getting noisier and/or more intense - and this was how we had envisioned "our sound" at the time. This also means that songs that were more on the traditional ambient side didn't make the cut of our first record, "Wandering Eye". When Glacial Movements approached us about a second release, we went with a different direction and the songs we chose for "Still" captured a new spirit in our work that was originally left on the cutting room floor. As time went on, we started venturing into new ideas like experimental techno, noise, and more traditional compositions while the songs on "Still" sat like a time capsule. We released more music, expanding our sound, and "Still", which was originally slated for a 2018 release, got pushed back further as conflicts on release schedules came up. We could never have predicted what the world would have looked like in 2021 when this record will finally be released. Somehow, through elements of chance, "Still" is finally being released in a world that feels like it is on pause in so many ways. Most of the songs on "Still" change over time. They do not sound the same when they end as they did when they started. This change is subtle rather than grand and over time the songs become completely new. For the song and album titles, we were thinking about time slowing or stopping in cold weather - how life is on pause and how movement is difficult. The stillness feels more like a cocoon rather than a hibernation - there is something changing over time - and although we had no idea what a global pandemic or politics of today would look like when making this work, the world today completely recontextualizes the music and the delay in the release now feels appropriate. First new work since 2007 by north german drone project Tarkatak

The four pieces on / // /// //// were written during travels, moving between places or being on the move. The first rough sketches have been developed further in different situations until they reached the final shape that can be heard on the album. These formations came about after many mood swings and rethinkings. Sometimes, the way to the final results was long, depending o the mood in the very moment, while working on the music. The manifestations on the album are four long drone works combining dense layers and textures with haunted voices, field recordings and piano sketches – truly beautiful and moody.

Tarkatak The end of 1981 was the starting point: punk and the cassette scene made avereything possible. Under the moniker „Der Pilz“ Lutz Pruditsch released first his sound–collages constructed from cut up tape loops and cassette overdubs. The noise stayed with „Der Pilz“, the quietness went to „Tarkatak“, which was birthed with a first cassette release „slow“ in 1999.
Ever since the sources and ways remained the same – listening to, collecting, cutting up, manipulating sounds. The medium became digital, although the tape is is present from time to time. The journey continues further into the deep, unknown, dark and brooding unnameable. To be surrounded by total sound and be fulfilled and lost in it. Tarkatak has released two cassettes, one LP, various 7“s (Drone Rec. a.o., sometimes in collaboration with Klangwart or Deep), CD/Rs (with Anemone Tube and Florian Filsinger), a CD and various digital-only things. Concerts have been played with Troum, A Thousand Vows, Melt Banana, Christina Kubisch, Kapotte Muziek, EA 80, etc.

Glacial Movements brings bvdub and Netherworld together for their first official collaboration... but more importantly, a testament to a friendship that has endured and grown for well over a decade - and the pinnacle of the GM catalogue to date.

Quite simply, the "equilibrium" of a glacier is the point at which its mass of snow and ice that comprises its mass is forever in balance - neither advancing nor receding... the frozen and slightly less-so forever in balance. Cold depths below freeze all in sight, while warmth above melts and shifts all below... but equilibrium is forever the point where permanence prevails - the gritty warmth of bvdub above, the glacial cold of Netherworld below, locked in a line that forever remains the perfect point at which they both exist as one.

This Friesian multi media artist with two works on one CD: his compositions combine drone-ambient and electro-acoustic elements in a wonderful (sometimes spheric, sometimes bizarre, sometimes melancholic) way, various instrumental and electronic sources are building a hypnotic and poetic web, very complex and with many unexpected twists and surprises in the mix.. this CD is like a little wonder! Using as sole sound source an antique German made Mannborg Harmonium, øjeRum skillfully crafted long drony melodic pieces filled with a sense of longing, of fading memories. Located in an old house in the Danish country side, in a room mostly left unused and only heated for special occasions, the harmonium has been affected by the dampness of its environment, causing it to slowly deteriorate and giving it a very unique sound and character. These attributes were accentuated and put forth with the choice of slow, repetitive passages, at times almost reaching a breaking point. We've packaged the whole in an A5 sleeve which features 6 collages from the Reversed Cathedral series. Another tour the force by this uncompromising and highly talented artist.
